People have sent me some questions through email and Some of my family and friends have asked me questions about my journey as well. I have listed all that I can think of below. If you have any other questions, please email me and I will answer them here.
1. Why are you doing this?
I believe in a different kind of life. I believe a different life is possible. I don’t think life has to be so hard. I don’t think we should always have to sacrifice the present for the future. I know that I have to live my life right now, and start living right now, instead of waiting for a moment in the future to begin. I also want to inspire some other people of color in their twenties, to give up the shackles of corporate life and go out adventuring on their own. I love travel, all kinds and I am so excited to be doing this.
2. How much have you saved up?
I have saved up about $5000 for the trip, but I am not worried about it, because I am willing to take little jobs here and there to fund my travels. I am not planning to spend a lot of money on the trip, except on food and lodgings. I am not planning to buy clothes, or spend on gas or insurance. My expenses are going to be limited and thats why I think it will be good.
3. What are you taking with you
I have shared my gear with you in a blog post here.
4. Why are you not taking any electronics with you?
I was thinking about this and I have been thinking about this constantly for two weeks. I decided that I do not want to live my hometown where I spend 18 hours a day on the computer, to go halfway across the world and spend 18 hours (or something like that) on the computer over there. I don’t want to be worrying about my electronics as well, about it being stolen or lost. In addition, I know I can always find an internet cafe anywhere. I am still taking a camera with me, because I can’t not take a camera with me. I didn’t want to carry an ipod with me, because of the need for a transformer in certain places, due to the voltage difference.
